Interview - Between Brooklyn and Dallas (artists and their day-jobs)

My surroundings have had an enormous impact on me. I have always been a close observer of surface, so living in Brooklyn has allowed me to see so many layers of age and weathering, as well as layers of graffiti. And, in my work as a scenic painter, I am often asked to paint faux-wood grain, cement, oxidized copper...I can look around me for a real-life examples anytime.  The scenic work and my art work are two different aims, but both have doubled my attention to surface and time.
